HSI Problems

We are sorry you are experiencing a problem with the wireless internet. This section is designed to help you find out why it isn’t working or to report an area that is down.

Click on the appropriate statement:

I can connect in the lobby, but not in my condo.
I can connect to the internet but cannot get to my email.
I use AOL but cannot get to AOL.
I try to connect to the wireless, but my computer tries to dial.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

If you are able to connect from the lobby of building 2, but not in your condo, the problem is either in one of our antennas or with your wireless adapter. Before reporting the problem as being with a St. Regis antenna, please make sure you have the latest drivers for your wireless card. If you do not know how to do this, check with the manufacturer of your computer.

If you still cannot connect to the internet from your condo, we will be happy to check on our antenna to make sure it is working. Contact us at “report at stregisresort.us”. Replace the word at with the symbol @ and remove the spaces. For example, “I hate spam at earthling.net” would be changed to ihatespam@earthling.net
If our antenna is functioning properly, the problem is with your computer. The card you have installed may not have a strong enough antenna to receive the data. This can happen in older model computers and adapters. Try moving to another area of the condo towards the sliding doors to get closer to the antennas signal.

When you are connected to the internet at home, your ISP (Internet Service Provider) knows where your email is. When you are away from home, the new ISP doesn’t know where to find your email. If you are connecting to the internet but cannot access your email, you may need to set up a profile you can use when away from home. A profile will tell the internet provider for where you are, how to find your email.
Since every ISP has their own way of setting up a profile, we cannot tell your specifically how to set it up. However, we can help you find out. You will need to visit the web site of your internet provider and select something that indicates help, such as HELP, FAQ, SUPPORT, etc. Once in the support area, look for an answer that deals with profiles or getting email away from home. Follow their directions and you should be able to access your email.

If you are used to dialing in to AOL, you are in for a treat! High speed internet connection just can’t be beat. You can still access AOL as you know it by adding a new setting to AOL’s main menu.
Start AOL as you normally do. If AOL tries to start dialing, click on CANCEL. Click on Connect Options and then select the choice for broadband connection.
AOL will automatically create a new profile that it will use to connect while on a high speed connection. It will NOT change your home settings. It simply adds another way for you to connect. Once created, in the Connection window just below your password window, click the down arrow and select the broadband connection you just created. Now you can sign on as your normally do, only at 50 times the speed!
Don’t forget to change the Connection window back to your home connection when you return home!

If you are used to dialing in to the internet, your computer will automatically try to connect via phone line. Now that you are here and have access to wireles high speed internet, you need to tell your computer there’s another way. Each computer manufacturer has their own way of finding a wireless connection. Some use Microsoft Windows abilities to monitor access, others use their own programs. Due to the many ways there are to connect, it is recommended that you look in the manufacturers help file on how to setup a wireless connection. Most manufacturers include the help file on the hard drive.
If you cannot locate the information for your particular computer, and if you are running a Microsoft Windows operating system, you can setup a temporary profile that will allow you to connect to the high speed wireless internet service we provide. Most manufacturers will have the information you need in the Help area. Click on START, and then HELP. Select Networking or Connecting to the web and follow the instructions for your computer.
